Where Imagination Builds Character
"I created The Character Lab because I believe every child deserves a joyful space to feel, move, create, and be themselves. The arts have a unique power to help kids explore who they are — and who they’re becoming. This work is rooted in empathy, curiosity, and the belief that emotional growth can be joyful."
— Miss Winter, Founder & Teaching Artist
Hi! I’m Miss Winter, a Brooklyn-based teaching artist passionate about movement, music, and make-believe. For the past 10 years, I’ve worked with children in various creative settings, including daycare, after-school programs, and summer camps.
My love for this work deepened in New York City, where I've built a community in Brooklyn over the past two years, leading joyful sessions that combine the arts with social-emotional learning. I’ve witnessed how creative play helps children express their feelings, build confidence, and form connections.
At The Character Lab, we focus on allowing kids to be themselves—wiggly, curious, and big-hearted—providing them with playful tools to explore their emotions and navigate the world with empathy and imagination.
🌱 Rooted in Community, Built with Heart
The Character Lab started with a simple idea: that every child deserves access to expressive arts, regardless of income, neighborhood, or background. That belief drives everything we do.
We’re building a sustainable hybrid model where paid classes help fund free and sliding-scale programs. Whether you're joining a class, spreading the word, or dreaming up ways to collaborate — your presence matters.
Thank you for helping this vision grow. 💛
